How Will Enforcement Officers Know That I've Paid? Will My Payment Show on the Meter?
Parkmobile payments do not integrate with the meters in this area. While your payment will not show on the meter, the officer will use your license plate number, zone number, and space number (where applicable) to view your Parkmobile payment on a handheld device. As such, please make sure to add any additional license plate numbers to your account before creating a parking session in order to make sure your parking transactions are correctly created.
Zone Number Information and Range:
Zone numbers and space numbers (where applicable) are a critical part of your transaction and must be recorded correctly in order for your parking session to be identified correctly by the parking enforcement officers. Zone and space numbers vary from block to block and the side of the street as well. You MUST identify your Parkmobile zone or space number from the green Parkmobile sticker on the single space meter for your space (or the multi-space machine for your side of the block).
In Washington DC the zone numbers range from 2100 to 24999 and bus parking zone numbers range from 2015024 - 6463033.
Area Specific Parkmobile Phone Number:
The Parkmobile toll-free phone number to reach the automated system to register and/or start or extend your parking sessions is: 877-727-5758 (877 PARK 758). If you are parking in Washington DC and call any other Parkmobile phone number you will be at risk parking in a zone in the wrong geographical area and the parking officers in your area wouldn't see your parking payment in that case.
Payment Methods Accepted:
The payment methods accepted in your area are: PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and Parkmobile Wallet
Can transactions in zones in this area be stopped? Extended? Why or why not?
You can not stop a session once started. You must select the amount of time you want in advance and pay for that time with your credit card. If you chose more time than you needed, you will not be able to stop the session or get a refund.
You are able to extend your parking time, if you see that you need more than the amount you initially paid for, as long as you haven't already chosen the meter maximum. Example: if the meter maximum is 2 hours, and you chose 1 hour, you can then extend your session before it expires for an additional hour. Note that extensions are separate transactions, and therefore each extension carries a transaction fee as well.
DC enforces the meter maximums. If you choose to park in a space for longer than the meter maximum indicates, paid or not, you are at risk for receiving an overtime at meter citation from DC enforcement.
Handicapped Parking:
Handicapped parking at Red-Top meters will now be available through the Parkmobile system. One must display their handicapped placard in order to legally qualify for the discounted rate and to avoid getting a heavy penalty for parking in a space reserved for the disabled. Red-Top meters should have their own zone numbers, and are coded in the Parkmobile system to offer double the maximum amount of time allowed at the posted rate. Additionally, transaction fees for using the Parkmobile service at Red-Top meters will be absorbed by the District. For more information, view the ADA Newsletter from DC DDOT's website.
What do I do if I get a parking citation in this area?
Parkmobile does not own, operate, manage or enforce the parking areas. We don’t issue tickets and we can’t remove them for you. We can provide you with the contact information for your parking authority, if you don’t have it, so you can contact them to begin your dispute. You can use your parking receipt from your Personal Pages to include with your dispute.
To dispute a citation, follow the instructions on the ticket. You can log on to your Personal Pages online at www.parkmobile.com to obtain a receipt for your parking session. Per the District of Columbia Department of Transportation, there are three options for disputing a citation in Washington DC:
Follow the directions on the back of the ticket for either mail-in, online or walk-in adjudication services. The fine will double 30 calendar days from the ticket issue date and one loses the right to adjudicate after 60 calendar days.
1) Adjudicate by mail – submit a copy of the ticket and your Parkmobile receipt to: Adjudication Services, PO BOX 37135, Washington DC 20013
2) Adjudicate online – submit your statement and download a copy of your Parkmobile receipt at www.dmv.dc.gov. From the home page, click on the link, “New Online Adjudication Request.”
Once a mailed or online adjudication request is received, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will suspend all action on the citation immediately. Citations in a suspended status will not prohibit drivers from renewing a driver’s license or vehicle registration. Citations that are in a temporary suspend status will not contribute to the vehicle becoming scofflaw/boot eligible.
3) Adjudicate in person – appear for a walk-in hearing at Adjudication Services, 301 C Street NW Room 1157 between the hours of 8:30am – 4:00pm Monday – Friday.
All other adjudication information and/or answers to your questions can be obtained by visiting www.dmv.dc.gov or by calling 202-737-4404.
